On June 6, 2024, The Lee Company celebrated its 25th annual awards ceremony for The Lee Scholarship Fund recipients. This year, 51 children of Lee Company employees were awarded a total of $209,200 in scholarships. The awards were presented by Marietta Lee, President and CEO, and Bill Lee, Chairman of the Board of Directors, at the company’s Westbrook, CT campus.
Additionally, The Walter Tischbein Scholarship Fund, established in 2017 by The Lee Company to honor the late Vice President Walter Tischbein, awarded two grants at the ceremony. These grants were presented by Dawn Tischbein, Mr. Tischbein’s widow. Christina Ciociola, Senior Vice President for Planning and Community Strategies at The Community Foundation of Greater New Haven (CFGNH), also addressed the attendees on behalf of CFGNH.
The Lee Scholarship Fund, created in 1999 by Leighton Lee II and Marietta F. Lee, the founders of The Lee Company, aims to support the higher education tuition costs for the children and spouses of the company’s employees. Valuing education highly, the Lee family is dedicated to aiding employees in managing the increasing expenses of education. Since its establishment, the fund has awarded over $2.5 million in scholarships. Due to the generous contributions from the Lee family and The Lee Company employees, as well as prudent management by CFGNH, the fund’s principal balance has now surpassed $5 million.
