Many of you will be familiar with the challenges of sealing cross-port passageways, particularly if the passageways in question are deep and/or difficult to access. Here at Lee Products our design and development teams have been busy overcoming this challenge. The result is our new range of Cross Port Plugs, an innovative plugging solution that provides permanent, leak-proof seals for all of your cross-port passageway requirements.
To let you in on a secret, our latest Cross Port Plugs are a variant of the original Lee Plug® that became the industry benchmark over 65 years ago. Here, smooth walls and a field-proven controlled expansion principle deliver a permanent, leak-proof seal without any requirement for secondary products such as for O-rings or sealants, which can add time and cost to your project. Moreover, the plug installation process is extremely simple, while high product reliability means that no maintenance is necessary moving forward. The latter benefit is extremely important in passageway applications with challenging access issues.
Put simply, our new Cross Port Plugs are not just ideal for isolating sections of a fluidic manifold, they can be used to plug deep passageways that are inaccessible with conventional sealing methods. The extent of potential uses is almost endless, but typically include down-hole oil drilling, wireline and completion tools, as well as applications in aircraft, high-performance racing cars, or anywhere else a leak-proof seal may be required.
Constructed from tough 6Al-4V titanium, Lee Cross Port Plugs have been qualified for proof pressures over 20,000 psi (1379 bar) and temperatures up to 400°F (204°C). To maximise the range of potential applications, we have made Cross Port Plugs available in .250, .281 and .343 inch (6.35, 7.14 and 8.71 mm) diameters.
